Gardening Exhibits

We would like to encourage all the gardeners to bring in their beautiful produce or flower specimens for display at the county fair. Exhibit goers love to ooh and aahh at fresh grown vegetables, fruits, or flowers. Delight attendees with your summer bounty results. Small vegetables or fruits should be arranged with four of one kind, uniform in size, on a plate, medium produce with two on a plate, and large specimens with just one on a plate. Flowers can be displayed in arrangements or three of a kind in a vase. Don't be shy! Share your hard work and your TLC with those who love to look. All gardening exhibits accepted between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6th.

Floriculture and Horticulture

Gardening and flower exhibits will be accepted on Wednesday, August 6 at 9 am at the new building on the Fairgrounds. Do not by shy…bring your garden flowers and vegetables and participate in the Carbon County Fair.

Special Rules
1. Exhibitors are not allowed to help themselves in removing an entry. The fair is not responsible for articles left after pickup date at end of fair.
2. All articles must have been completed since August 2002. Any article that has been entered in a previous state fair will not be accepted for judging.
3. Entries are limited to residents of Carbon County.
4. All entries must be the work of the exhibitor and shown in his or her name. Original designs should be so labeled.
5. Exhibitors may enter two items in any class.
6. The Supervisor reserves the right to refuse to accept entries offered in case there is anything objectionable or not fit for judging or if the entry requires more space than can be allowed. No unfinished work will be accepted for entry. All articles must be clean, pressed, and if necessary blocked.

Home Arts Exhibits

Calling all Carbon County gardeners! The 2003 Carbon County Fair, Home Arts and Horticulture division is planning a big display of the flowers, fruits, and vegetables grown in our county. This year we are expanding the Home Art entries to include baked goods and candy (except dipped chocolates).

The Home Arts division will be held at the new Community Center on the Carbon County Fairgrounds, Tuesday, August 5 to Saturday, August 9.

Entries will be accepted on Tuesday, August 5 from 10 am to 3 pm. All freshly baked items and horticultural items will be accepted on Wednesday, August 6 from 9 am to 10 am.

The public is invited to view the exhibits on Thursday, August 7 and Friday, August 8 from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday, August 9 from 10 am to 5 pm. Exhibitors may pick up exhibits starting at 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm.

Saturday morning at 10 am, Kriss Larsen will demonstrate Rhodes bread recipes for fast and quick cooking, and in the afternoon at 1 pm, Shirley King will demonstrate spinning yarn.

The People's Choice will be the funniest vegetable your garden has produced. Please bring your funny vegetables on Wednesday morning at 9 am to be put on display. A ribbon will be awarded to the public vote for the funniest vegetable.

All residents of Carbon County are encouraged to participate. It is not too late to finish up projects and enter that painting, afghan, quilt or crocheted item, or the canned product you canned since August 2002. Residents may enter two items per class. The best-of-show entry in each class will take home a ribbon and a modest cash award.

Brochures for the Home Arts division are available at the County Courthouse on Main Street, Price and other public locations. For questions, please contact Leslie Hannay at 637-6857.

Exhibits for the Carbon County Fair Home Arts will be accepted at our new building on the Fairgrounds on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 from 10 am to 3 pm. The items will be judged on Wednesday, August 6th and not open to the public.

The exhibits will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday August 7th & 8th from 10 am to 7 pm. Open on Saturday, August 10th from 10 am to 5 pm.

Items can be picked up Saturday starting at 5 pm to 7 pm. NO EXHIBITS WILL BE RELEASED EARLY.

Peoples Choice for 2003

For the 2003 Carbon County Fair we encourage all gardeners to bring in the funniest vegetable you have growing in your garden. Do you have twins or squash that looks like a person or animal?

The public will vote for their favorite funny vegetable and ribbons awarded.
