Four-H exhibits will be shown in the Community Center at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.  Entries may be checked in on August 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Judging will take place August 11. Besides the regular first, second, and third place ribbons, a Best of Show award and a small cash prize will be given in each project area. Exhibits will open for public viewing on Thursday, August 12, and Friday, August 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Entries may be picked up from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.  We encourage all to come and see the abundant talent we have in Carbon County.  It is well worth the effort.

GOT VEGGIES?

Everyone loves to see the garden exhibits at the fair.  People ooh and ahh over the fresh  vegetables, fruits, and flowers.  Delight fair-goers with your summer bounty results by bringing them in for display.  Small vegetables or fruits should be arranged with four of one kind, uniform in size, on a plate; medium produce with two on a plate; large specimens with just one on a plate.  Flowers can be displayed in arrangements or three of a kind in a vase.  All gardening exhibits will be accepted between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11.  Don’t be shy!  Share your summer efforts with those who love to look.

HOME ARTS

Attention Carbon County gardeners of all ages the Home Arts division of the Carbon County Fair 2004 is looking for samples of the wonderful flowers, fruits, and vegetables produced by our local gardeners. Other divisions in Home Arts are baked items, creative arts, canning, candy, clothing, needlework, arts in all mediums, pottery, fiber art, photography, wood, quilts, and any item you have created since August 2003.

The Home Arts division will be held at the Community Center on the Carbon County Fairgrounds from Tuesday, August 10, to Saturday, August 14.

Entries will be accepted on Tuesday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All freshly baked items and horticultural items will be accepted on Wednesday, August 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The public is invited to view the exhibits on Thursday, August 12, and Friday, August 13, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Exhibitors may pick up exhibits starting at 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Saturday morning at 11 a.m., a demonstration will be given showing how to make and use Make-A-Mix, a time saving cooking solution. In the afternoon at 1 p.m., the Castle Country Quilters will have, available to the public, the opportunity of tying quilts for a local charity.

All residents of Carbon County of any age are encouraged to participate. It is not too late to finish up projects and enter that painting, afghan, quilt, crocheted items, or the canned product. The Best of Show will be awarded in each division with a ribbon and a modest cash award.

Brochures for the Home Arts division are available at the Courthouse on Main Street, Price and other locations. For questions, please leave a message for Leslie at 637-6856.
