Carbon County Recreation’s participation has become an
intricate addition to the Carbon County Fair held annually
in August at the Fairgrounds. This year will be no
different. The recreation staff has a number of activities
for adults and children. All of these will be provided for
a minimal cost to the participant.
The
sixth annual County Fair Softball
Tournament will begin Friday August 12th
at 6pm at the fairgrounds ball field complex. There will be
divisions for men, women, and coed. The fee for entry is
$125.00. This is a three game guarantee tournament with
prizes for first and second place for each division.
Registration deadline for the tournament is August 10 at
5pm.
In
addition to the softball tournament CCR will take a break
from the tournament action to hold the third annual
County Fair Home Run Derby,
at 10pm Friday evening. The cost for entry is $10. Each
participant will receive 12 pitches. The top four will
advance to a semi final match. And then the top two will
slug it out to decide who is the number
one home run hitter in Carbon County. Participation
is not limited to those who are involved in the softball
tournament. It is open to anyone who wants to play.
Saturday activities will include
Sand Volleyball, and the
Climbing Wall. Mud
Volleyball will begin Saturday morning at 9am at
the fairgrounds. The deadline for registration for the
activity is August 10 at 5pm. The registration is free.
Each team is guaranteed two matches in the tournament.
There will be prizes for first and second place. This is an
open tournament so you can have a mixed team, all women or
all men.
CCR
will also have its’ climbing wall
available both Friday and Saturday. This
activity is free to the public. There will also be a
climbing competition that will begin August 13 at two
o’clock in the afternoon. This activity will cost five
dollars per participant and there will be prizes for winners
in each division.
The Carbon County Fair is going to
be a great success this year. Come out and have some fun
